House of Orient/Thai Cuisine

We've eaten at Jimmy's House of Orient several times and have been mostly disappointed. Our first dinner there in Summer of 2007 it was very good and we returned a week later. On the second visit I had what had to be the most bland green curry imaginable. It was coconut milk with some dried basil and chili flakes floating in it. I don't think it had any fish sauce, and it certainly had no kaffir leaves. We have had lunch there twice and were disappointed. I had vegetables in black bean sauce on a recent lunch visit and it was also quite bland. We really want to like Jimmy's, but the food just doesn't live up to the nice staff and the great downtown atmosphere. We have eaten better Thai food elsewhere. Maybe it just depends on who is cooking on a given visit.

This is by far the best Thai resturant in Bellingham. Quality of food is high, fresh, and atmoshpere is nice.

House of Orient has excellent, affordable food with beautiful presentation and an awesome atmosphere. It's one of the best places to go on a date in town.

I dont know where the last guy has been eating Thai food, but this is the best Thai place in bellingham! Definitely not the same as the other Thai restaurants in Bellingham that all seem to order their pre-cut veggies and serve the same "cookie cutter" boring stuff.

I haven't eaten at their new location but the food at their old place was mediocre at best.
