I have a really hard time believing all of these negative reviews. We have ordered from Thai 101 several times a month for the past 8 months or so and the food is always good. Sometimes delivery does take almost an hour, even though we live a few blocks away, but if we just walk over and pick it up it is usually ready in 15 minutes or so. Everything is really fresh and their tofu is really good. I like the green curry and the ginger palate - lots of fresh veggies. Most of the other Thai places in this neighborhood use canned vegetables but you can tell Thai 101 uses fresh. Mademoiselle

I wish we had read the reviews before ordering from Thai 101, but it was awful. 1 dish arrived and tasted fine, but the curry we ordered was absolutely awful. I love thai food, have eaten a lot of 'ok' thai food in nyc, and have never complained, especially not when the dish is less than $10. But this beef curry tasted and looked like beef and vegetables boiled in water, no flavor at all, really just awful. We called to let them know we weren't happy with the dish, and the man on the phone was rude and mean and said he didn't want our business. I was shocked, we weren't even asking for our money back, and obviously live 1 block away and could be return customers. Really ridiculous and unnecessary. miss e

Ok people chill out, yes this isn't French Laundry or some Bungalow 8 night club but it is VERY GOOD Thai food for the flavor of the foods and ambience. I LOVE Raymond the owner and I've ALWAYS had a good experience. Don't mistake it for Thai 101 in Clinton Heights...*Muah*, faithful customer. Anonymous

The Thai fried rice is the best. I always bring visitors here and they are always impressed by the flavor and the price. monica

I absolutely LOVE Thai 101. I have never had a problem with my order being incorrect or rude service. I have consistently been greeted with a smile and brief conversation, especially for a young, soft spoken caucasian man who I think is the manager? In any case, whenever I'm on that side of town I am sure to stop here for some takeout. Their food is delicious, my faves are the pad Thai & thai 101 dumplings. Anonymous

I've always enjoyed the food from Thai 101 and from living in Clinton Hill for the past 5 years have never had an unpleasant expirience with them. Delivery is sometimes slow 45min-1hr. But I love the masaman curry, fried rices & siam roll. The atmosphere is also cute considering the neighborhood its in. I recommend it. mccormicky

I've been going to or ordering from Thai 101 for about 2 years. At first the food was consistently very high quality.I rate a Thai place on the spicyness of it's dishes and whether or not they will actually make it extra spicy if you ask for that.Thai 101 will.Painfully hot,too the way I like it! The food went thru a very inconsistent patch a few months ago but now seems to be back on track and delicious. I think the customer service is pretty good, too.I always see the same guy at the register and he's very nice.I eat in the restaurant rarely but the service has always been about on par with the food.I've never had an rude waitor, ever. It's ggod food and it's cheap and it comes fast when you order.I don't know what else you expect from a restaurant! Alex

Thai 101 has some very tasty food, I eat there often, I am getting hungry just thinking about the food there! There is always kind and freindly service for my family, and I whenever we dine in or order takout/delivery. I recommend this restaurant to everyone who is a fan of Asian quisine. Bobby

I love the food at Thai 101. The fish dishes are very very recommendable. They take a little bit longer to be prepared but they are worth every minute. Other dishes can hold their own against the competition. I usually eat there about 2-3 times a week. Their service is excellent. The owner is very friendly and able to recognize most of his customers by name, which is rare in this day of age. Their prices are competitive against other thai restaurants. Anonymous25

I had the absolute worst experience at Thai 101 in Clinton Hills. I have been going to this resturant since it opened in my neighborhood. I will NEVER go there again. This is what happened: I was waiting for my food for a pick up order. The owner came out with the wrong order so he went back into the kitchen. The servers then told me that they made the wrong dish. The owner then came back in less than a min and brought me my order. Because of mistakes made with my past orders, I checked the food. When I took the plate out of the bag, I saw that a good portion of the bottom of the aluminum pan was smashed in. Almost as if someone had dropped the plate. So, I questioned the owner about this and he walked off. I then took it to him at the counter and questioned him again, and he began to explain that it was the right order, "there was nothing wrong to the food," and how he brought out the wrong order. I then said to him, that I am asking about the large dent on the bottom of the plate. He then grabbed the bag, without a word and went back to the kitchen. As he did that, he dropped the food and one of the servers picked it up. It looked as if he were getting a new order. At that point, I know that I should of demanded my money back but I didn't. I gave him the benefit of the doubt until he came back 10min later with a new plate of food. I then explained to him that I was not trying to be a difficult and I just could not eat it thinking that it had dropped on the floor. He then said," thank you but I would appreciate it if you would not come back here again." In shock, and not wanting to make a scene, I left. I am writting this because this owner does not understand how valuabe people are to his business. I would not want the day to come where you have a problem with them and he disrespect you too. He does not deserve our business. Eliyahu Cohen

I have been eating there since they first opened up, and I have never had any problems except the food being a bit too addicting. I usually always encounter a very polite staff, and I really appreciate courageous politenesss from people because it's not always that common these days. Compared with the many other restaurants around town, it's about as good as you can get, only if you are not the Donald Trump type and require 5 star treatment. Sandy

I order from Thai 101 every week and no one has ever been rude to me. It is very loud when you call up, though. Sometimes the phone is busy and you have to call more than once to place an order. I live pretty close and they usually take anywhere from 45 min to an hour to deliver. It is a lot cheaper than a lot of Thai places I've been to. I like the Siam Rolls and the curries. However, I would stay away from the panang curry because the leaves are never done right and it's like having fall leaves in your food. Also, they are very good about meeting special dietary requests and they have lots of good tofu items. Sarah

I very much like the food at Thai 101, but have had similarly disastrous delivery experiences: food taking over an hour, people being very rude on the phone, food arriving cold (we live about 3 blocks away, so it must have been sitting around for a while) etc etc etc. I've eaten there a couple of times with much better results, but we haven't ordered in from there after a particularly bad experience several months ago -- the person on the phone was unbelievably rude after we had been waiting over an hour and a half for our food (and it was well after 9;30 on a weeknight at that point -- hardly a busy time). I just ordered from Thai 101 for the second time and was even more disappointed than the first time. I ordered the red curry which was just "ok" while my girlfriend ordered a very bland pad Thai. I probably wouldn't have even bothered to write a review about the completely forgettable entrees but the appetizer was the real kicker. The chicken dumplings barely resembled what I normally expect when I order dumplings. We received an undercooked brick of five horrible dumplings that found their way to the garbage after just one bite. Given that brooklyn has some of the best Thai places in the city makes this place particularly useless. Go down the street or take the G train to Williamsburg. Anonymous

Yum! I adore the staff and the delightful food of Thai 101. Lunch specials are worth every penny. (Although, I will be the first to urge them to pay a little more attention to the vegetable soup, slightly boring lettuce salad (delicious dressing), and somewhat slow service). The Tofu Basil Fried Rice is delicious. Anonymous

My husband and I just had a horrible experience with Thai 101 in Clinton Hill and will never go there or order from them again. We will certainly miss their food, but when we called in tonight to say that one of the dishes we had received in our delivery order was not correct, we were met with rude, snide, insulting service. The man who identified himself as the owner suggested that my husband was a liar; later, he suggested that my husband was crazy. My husband told me later that he could hear the kitchen staff laughing in the background during his exchange with the owner. I heard the conversation from my husband's end, and while I won't deny that I'm biased, he was calm and polite throughout - from what I heard, the owner was angry and informed my husband that he did not care whether he lost us as customers - we simply wanted the dish that we had ordered. The woman who identified herself as the manager also suggested that my husband was a liar, and when I got on the phone to describe the dish that we were expecting to get and referred to it as spicy, she mockingly said something to the effect of - "spicy? That dish is not spicy. Who told you that dish is spicy?" We were both very surprised - we ordered takeout from Thai 101 frequently, and again, all we wanted was the dish that we ordered. By the end of the conversation, an apology would have been nice too. Submit a review for this restaurantSign up or login and earn rewards for making Thai restaurant reviews. Excellent food every time. My wife almost always gets the BBQ Chicken, I like the Basil Palate with chicken, although today I ordered the Masaman Curry. Never had bad food or service. Every negative review I have seen here seem to all be one time customer service clashes. I have seen good customer service and great food.
