Fantastic Place !! Like many others I have never been disappointed. I have been here 3 or 4 times now and it keeps getting better and better. I love spicy noodle dishes and theirs are just about perfect. Finally a place that understands what "spicy" means when you want it!! Arturo Pelayo

I'm a Mexican living in Meixco City and 2 of my best firends live very close to your place so when I fisrt passed by I thought he smell was absolutley delicious so this last time I visited I had to go which I did. Food is amazing, but the staff is even better! Glen, Ithink is the owner, great chap! You should open a place like Joya in Mexico City. It would be a smashing hit! Cheseed

HELPFUL REVIEW : After reading all these reviews, i decided to actually go and try this restaurant. It is located on court st. but does not have any name on the outside so it is a bit confusing. If you follow the house numbers, it is located on your left side because it's a oneway street. About the FOOD: Food is actually really good maybe one of the best Thai's i had after trying many in the city. I went at night, so the place is a bit dark with candles. It has a bar, looks like an urban bar/restaurant that you find in the city. It also has an open kitchen in the back where one can see chefs making food. It also allows for take out which is very convenient if you do not want to sit at a crowdy place and eat. It gives you food in nice containers and the portion for one platter is enough for two people. Overall : Yum Yum Food restaurant goer

this the BEST place for Thai food ever. the owners are awesome and super friendly. the food is always good and the price won't break the wallet. I have never been disappointed. yes, the wait can be long if you go at high dinner time but the food is more than worth the wait. They ROCK!!! Joya Neighbor

The food is incredible - absolutely delicious. The prices are very reasonable/affordable especially considering the quality of the food. The waitstaff is friendly, though overworked and hard to flag down. My only major complaint is the wait for a table and the host/hostesses. They are extremely good at ignoring you and aren't always as polite as would be desired. However, if you can make it past that, the food is really exceptional. seth

Killer thai, cool atmosphere.... and "the gay guy who takes names" is very cool....takes a special kind of ignorance to make a statment like the person below made. yes the place gets crowded....but the turnaround is quick and the food rocks and isnt overpriced like 90% of the rest of the restaurant world. When u go u assume a wait and u have a drink and cool out. the woman who was treated bad below, i feel bad for her that she caught someone on a bad night...but thats all it was. I am sure if the owners knew you were treated that way, they would go out of their way to make your next visit a special one. I had friends have a surprise b-day party there on a sunday from 12-3...open bar and their usual kick ass cuisine and it was awesome. Nina

I live in Westchester, but my girlfriend lives around the corner from Joya. We have been going there for years. I can honestly say, that anytime I go to any Thai restaurant, I comapre it to Joya, and nothing I found even comes close to the atmosphere, food, and inexpensive prices. Most days after a certain hour there usually is some sort of a wait, but the bartender and the owners make it so pleasant, that we never mind. We also had the great experience of being comped for a meal as a "good luck" to my girlfriend, who was pregnant and due any day. I've always felt all of the employees nice and accomidating, and I always feel special when they remember me even though I only come once every few months...not nearly as often as I'd like. am

I am also a small, quiet woman, and have been eating at this restaurant for years. It is very trendy but I've always been treated with the utmost respect. But it is soooo busy in there it is crazy so you have to be a little assertive but everyone's always so nice! My husband and I have even been comped a couple of times - I don't know any other restaurants in NY that do that!!! There's such a nice vibe - all the waiters, staff, very friendly. My husband went to ask for a recipe from the cooks and they gave us some of their sauces and spices! The food comes soooo hot and is delicious. The best Thai food I've ever tasted. Rich

This place is so incredibly loud and hectic it's simply impossible to enjoy your food - which is otherwise okay. They blast music in the dining room. The waiting area is jammed. And the mess spills into the street. It's very much "that place" and not a real Thai restaurant. Yuri Smith

NOTE, I don't believe the woman below is telling the truth. The people, the service is friendly, local, warm, and authentic. Make no mistake, this place is wonderful, the food absolutely to die for, and a fun bustling new york vive. Locals love it. Yum! My wife and I eat there weekly without a miss. Samantha

I'm a small quiet woman. This is very trendy place. I was told it would be 15 minutes for a table. After 15 minutes passed, after watching him spend another 5 minutes appeasing a hip young couple that just walked in and wanted a table, watching him ooze charm and apologize to them for the wait, I approached him about whether the wait would be much longer for my table. I'd just smiled and said "hi" when he turned to me and hissed: "YOU'RE REALLY GETTING ON MY NERVES LADY! I'M GETTING SICK OF YOU COMING UP TO ME AND PESTERING ME!! YOU PEOPLE ARE IN MY WAY AND CROWDING ME!! YOU'RE REALLY GETTING ON MY NERVES!! I TRIED TO BE NICE, BUT NOW I'M THINKING YOU DON'T DESERVE A TABLE -" At this point, in shock and on the verge of tears, I walked away. My friends saw him yelling at me, but weren't close enough to hear, so confused they just followed me out. The host kept leaning over me so much that some of his face- sweat and spit flecks hit my face. I was shaking by the time I'd walked to the end of the block. I'm NEVER EVER going to this place again, and please, please, think twice before you do. You just might not be the kind of person who is treated like a human being here. Anonymous

My boyfriend & I simply love this place. We go at least twice a week and are afraid the waiters are sick of us. Great food!
