My parents live near Rochester, and every time we visit from the Hudson Valley we make it a point to visit the King and I. The staff is great ...always taking a second from their BUSY tables to say hello to their regular customers and ask about their family. My 8 year old looks forward to it ( and has since she was 4)as much as the adults. We have always been treated to a nice night out, good food and very friendly and helpful staff. Tom

Good food and the waitress was very efficient at serving our meals expediently. However, the nightmare came when my party had to pay the bill. The writing was illegible and adding up what we got it seems they were trying to swindle $20 more out of us. After we returned home, some of us found that the waitress had taken more out of our credit cards as a tip i.e. more than the total amount we had written down. Again...I enjoyed the food and the waitress was very good but honestly I could not trust them to go back there again, at least with a large group. barb

I used to love this place, especially the yellow curry. But when I went back a couple months ago, said curry was bland and brown, as were all of my friends dishes. Even the spicy soups and pad thai. Needless to say, I was very disappointed. Did they have a change of chefs, or was this just an off day? Also, they do tend to rush one out the door. Matt

I like all the people that say this place is bad because it's not "authentic." I have news for you. Authentic Thai is not as good as you think it is. This place does us a favor for making Thai food that doesn't contain pig anus and goat balls. This place has created a cuisine that excells beyond other Thai restaraunts. It is the best Thai food in the region. Authentic or not. You stop any area resident in the streat and 9.9/10 times they will tell you the King and I is the best. The rest either haven't tried it or were just dissapointed their meal wasn't made in the 3rd world country out of authentic spoiled meat. Valerie

I have been to this restaurant for the past 4 years and have had wonderful time feasting on the food for most part. We have even taken our daughter there numerous times since she was a mere 4 days old. The waiters are good, but sometimes they seem to be in a hurry to get your check to you and after a long day, they forget to smile...but hey, the food more than makes up for it and I am not complaining!! This place features many vegetarian dishes and we love to go there. But, this is not at ll authentic Thai food. Don't bother comparing this place to any of the places in NYC or LA. Some of the waiters are very rude, and they check on you every 10 minutes and ask you if you need a box! This place exists due to a faster turnaround of tables during lunch..and guess what..they continue to follow this over the weekend also. jenn

Once I went here with my 10 month old and they decided to give me parenting advice, because she was playing with the food. I thought I would enjoy my lunch and upon leaving I would pick up after her...instead of picking up every second. They told me that I should be teaching her better!!!! However, I still love the food (though I know it's nowhere near authentic) Wherever there are good vegetarian options...I go. I just don't recommend bringing children there at lunch Jerry

My wife and I have enjoyed The King and I for many years, both as a couple and when we're part of a family group. We feel the food is excellent, and the service is friendly and fast. I agree with the reviewer who said "There's nothing bad to say about The King and I." Pamela

My husband and I went to this restaurant in the summer and it was absolutely fabulous. We ordered about five or six different dishes (all vegan) and feasted. We brought the rest home with us across the border, as we live in Ontario. I can't wait to go back someday! Lauren

I love this restaraunt. As some have mentioned, it may not be authentic Thai, but the food is WONDERFUL!! I am an inexperienced average American when it comes to Asian cuisine, but I love this place. I am also vegetarian and find they have great selections! I prefer to take out, but most of the staff who have waited on me have been very helpful and polite. Highest recommendations if you're looking for a delicious place to eat!! Brittany

If you like pedestrian American style Chinese cuisine then this is your place...oops...isn't the "The King and I" supposed to be Thai food... well I guess to the average American all asian food is the same. However, for my wife (who happens to be a Thai citizen) and myself who lived in Thailand for several years this restaruant amounts to false advertising in that the food bears absolutely no resemblance to authentic Thai cuisine. So to summarize if you enjoy food drowned in the unfortunate thick brown gravy that is routine for inexpensive Chinese take-out... well then this is the spot....oh did I mention that the wait staff is extremely rude. My suggestion is if you like Chinese food then stick to the take-out restaurants because at least you know what your getting and it is not over-priced. Bree

This restaurant has been a family favorite for many years. If you have limited time and still want a superb gourmet meal - GO! If excellent customer service is important to you - GO! I am vegetarian and they have much variety in that aspect. I also love their rice and mango dessert - how they manage to get the sweetest mango regardless of the season is beyond me. Every experience I have had with The King & I has been positive, and I recommend them highly! Pam

There is nothing bad to say about this restaurant. The food is always wonderful. Service is outstanding. With so much to choose from on the menu you could go for several months straight and never tire of the great food. If you have not been here, and have the oppertunity GO!! Anonymous

I love the reviewers that don't like a meal simply because they have an asian wife or can locate thailand on a map (apparently makes them an expert on culture and foreign cusine). If the food tastes good, eat it. This place is great, and by the way the owner is Thai.
