This place changed it was a great place to eat still is if you don't mind waiting 45 min for any of your food and don’t mind seeing old food on the tables. They tend to serve the whole room at one time when they do serve. They don’t serve in ordered either what ever is done will be served first so be prepared to get a bit aggravated. They serve traditional ground meats on most of the dishes. Food is ample and good taste to it the other owner still cooks most of the meals there. This place changed after one of the two owners left about a year and a half ago maybe even two now…(Andy D is correct) Tyrone sorry dude you’re wrong.. you see I know the other owner that left. He the was the face of the restaurant it’s lost allot since he left everyone misses his kind thank you thank you after he served you he was allot of fun. Take a trip to Asian Bowl across the way and see what a difference the service makes. Asian Bowl serves large chunks of meat but will grind the meat if asked to they seem very will to please and more customer orientated. They are both ok places for being in lake county…have fun enjoy Anne

The last time I went to Lovely Thai, the service left a bit to be desired. There was only one server working that night (Monday), but I'm not sure how efficient they are on other nights. This is, by far, one of the best Thai restaurants nearby (I live in Round Lake), if only because they have the beef noodle soup (lots of Thai restaurants don't have this on their menu), and they have the basil noodle dish, which is EXCELLENT. The chu-chee tilapia is delicious, so I always get this whenever they have it. On a side note, I haven't been to that Asia Bowl place people keep posting about, but I love Lovely Thai, and service or not, I'm sticking to my guns. Besides, I'm not sure I want to go to a place based on recommendations from people who write reviews using run on sentences! Terry

Service is getting a lot better. They have been trying to get more wait staff on Friday and Saturday. The owner used to have a partner but he left and tried to run a restaurant in Round Lake but closed. The original owner is from Thailand along with three other cooks - she is still the current owner. Food is great! Bill

This place is awful service and food are as the others say not worth the wait go to Asia Bowl in town its 100% better and only one lady there she works her tail off to serve you leaves Lovley thai in the dust. You will find the food at Asia bowl in Grays lake is much much better too.. Lunch is very cheap for allot of food AAA+++ Roman

I have eaten here and i gotta say that this is one of the best Thai food around. I used to work in Bangkok, Thailand and I am picky on which restaurants are even close to the taste around here. To the Thai food enthusiast, I recommend that you try this place and judge for yourself. Donna

I have to agree with the other poster, Andy. We used to love this Thai restaurant for take-out because it's so close to our home, but the service is so ridiculously slow. We've waited 1.5-2 hours for take out on many occasions!! Recently, we stopped in for a late lunch with friends. We had to seat ourselves, get up to get our own menus, and they began bringing water to another (larger group) who came in after us! We sat around for 10 minutes without a greeting, water, anything. We looked around at another table, all of whom began to get up and leave...at first I thought they were finished with the meal and then realized they had been sitting there for nearly 20 minutes without ordering. As our group also got up to leave, it appeared a waitress walked in instructing everyone "please sit down, I'm here now." We just left. Great food, but horrible, slow service. We'll go to Thai Noodles in Libertyville - they're food is better anyway! Bathrooms could also use some work - yuck. Andy D

At one time this was a great place to eat, now the service and the food are marginal at best. Last time I ate there was 9-21-05 and the Basil pork was dried and hard and they forgot the basil. I am a local and used to be a weekly customer, but no more. If you see a blonde haired kid with glasses, leave. I have found he is more interested in take out service. I waited 1 hour 40 min for my last meal there. You will not get your food for a good hour; it took 35 minutes to get my drink with only 5 people in the restaurant. I now go to Schaumburg to Thai Garden the best Thai around. It’s well worth the drive from anywhere if you like spicy when you order say 3 spicy. The TOM YUM soup (chicken) is awesome and not to be missed ask for the big bowl! Submit a review for this restaurantSign up or login and earn rewards for making Thai restaurant reviews. I've been to Asia Bowl and was not impressed, so I don't know what all the hullabaloo is about with that. Lovely Thai is a nice little place. Service can be a little slow, but go with a friend and enjoy some conversation. The prices are reasonable and the food is always good. I highly recommend the Chu-chee prawns and Chu-chee lobster. They are just heavenly (and I very rarely order something new, but these sounded yummy and I wasn't disappointed. Presentation was also lovely on these dishes).
