This is absolutely one of my favorite places to dine in Bloomington. It's still maintaining the quality they put out when they just opened. My favorites include - tom yum: the best tom-yum anywhere I have ever tried. It's just full of fresh ingredients and flavors! (Tom-Kah is also great/ Kao-pad: it's very different from ordinary fried rice. it's almost burned and little bit sweet, but really tasty/ pad Thai is also excellent/ Larb (ground chicken or beef salad) and Num-Tok (beef salad with lime juice, fish sauce, etc.). they use really great ingredients most of the time/ Stir-fried stuff is all great/ Pa-Nang has thinly sliced lime leaves on top of amazingly fragrant curry-sauce. Also they serve really nice Thai-iced coffee. Usually I hate Thai iced coffee as it's too sweet/ not much coffee flavor, but here they make it really well balanced. Other items worth trying: Miang-Esan is a very refreshing unfried roles, but sometimes they are a bit dry as they are made ahead/ Fried wontons are very tasty, but if you don't like pork..don't try/ Yum-Woon-Sen is also really tasty. This place is without doubt the best Thai food in Bloomington. And, given that Btown has great ethnic food, saying its one of the better ethnic food houses in the city is no small thing. Try the Japanese eggplant dishes--small, crisp sweet eggplant, in a green or red curry. And, as for spice level, hot is HOT, and "Thai hot" is &*#^$^% HOT! Enjoy. boat

i was thoroughly unimpressed with esan thai. the chicken was super dry, the rice cold etc. they make a big deal of saying that all your food is cooked fresh when ordered, but when it comes out moderately cold and after literally two minutes, i just find that hard to believe. it was pretty subpar. not a great thai place by any means.
