The food is simply exquisite, specially the Thai fried rice, it is better than in Thailand. My husband and I have been to many Thai restaurants around the US but nothing beats EE-SANE. If you visit Milwaukee, be sure to stop for a treat.

After reading all the reviews about the poor service and terrible atmosphere, we were a bit hesitant. But, not only was the food fantastic, our server was top notch--cleared dishes quickly, kept refilling water pitcher, was friendly; and the atmosphere is simple--not horrible. Definitely going back!

I'm so tired of ppl complaining that the food at Ee Sane is too hot for them. Hello people, this is a THAI restaurant. If you have wimpy American taste buds, Get a level 1!!! I, for one, can tell that they tone down the spice as compared to authentic Thai, probably because people whine and send their food back. I get a 10, and could use a little more heat. This is the best Thai place in Milwaukee though. I won't go anywhere else for curry or pad thai. Get it to go though, service sucks.Yum!

I was nervous to go to this little hole-in-the-wall restaurant, but the friend who suggested it is VERY picky about food so I went. First let me say, in the end my dish was very good so I would go back. But there were some issues. I felt that the egg roll was BLAND AS CAN BE. Boring!!! Only chopped, uncooked cabbage with no seasoning in a fried wrapper? A little effort would have been nice! Then my friend ordered Chicken Pad Thai with no spice but it was heavy on the fish sauce which had never happened to her before. I ordered Pad Thai at a 5 (I normally love spicy food) and it was low on flavor but totally overpowering on heat!! We both sent them back. Second time around, Perfect! I also got the iced sweetened condensed coffee - very yummy! Overall - decor lacking, service just okay, egg rolls not great, entrees and coffee very good and lunch prices were great.Thrre was enough food on the lunch plate to take home half. I will go back and try soup instead of egg roll and maybe curry peanut chicken entree....

This is the BEST Thai food in town! I don't even mind the slow service I only wish they had small plates so I can try more dishes. My staple is the Pad Thai and fried rice. The flavors of both are GREAT! I did make the mistake of asking for a 6 spicy and boy was that way too hot I stick to a 2 now:)

The food is amazing. The service is crap, but I can deal with that because the food is so good. What I can't deal with is them closing whenever they feel like it. We used to live on the east side, ate there 3 times a week or more. Now we live in Waukesha, which is a 40 minute drive, so you can imagine how irritated I get when we drive all the way out there and they're closed when they're supposed to be open, according to the hours posted on the door and online. They do have an attitude like they're doing you a favor, and they could care less if you leave unhappy. But still, in spite of all this, we will always go back because the food is so good. I think they know it, that's why they don't have to give good service. People go there anyway.

Absolutely love the food. Mostly do take out, and would do it more often if they would actually pick up the phone. Called them 5 times and phoen just rang and rang.

This is some of the best Thai food in the midwest..I design restaurants in Chicago and a few in Mil. So I've tried many and EE-sane is near the top for the food..service and setting not so much, but I actually drive to Mil a few times a year for their food.
If you can't handle spicy stay at 1 or 2. If you can handle 6 or 7 that's amazing because that is seriously HOT.

Here's a summary of what seems to be everyone's experience (including mine):

1.) The service is spotty, especially when they're busy. When in doubt, order takeout.

2.) Hot means hot. If you are not used to very, very spicy food, be careful how you order. A "5" at EE Sane is much hotter than "medium-spicy" most places, and a "10" could probably kill an Englishman raised on boiled things. He wouldn't even have to eat it--someone else could, and then just breathe on him.

3.) The food is amazing--probably the best Thai you will get in Milwaukee. Tons of vegetarian options. (My personal favorite is probably the Curry Squash.)

1-2-09 Just got back from EE-Sane. Never ate there before but am hooked. If you like Thai food, this place rocks. No bells and whistles, just great food, no, outstanding food. Be cautious with the heat though had a 5 and a 6 and they are flaming hot. If you like Tai food, don't pass this place up.

Awful, Awful, Awful food. Chicken panang was inedible, so spicy my insides Hurt-I asked for mild to medium-just a little kick. No sauce at all on the pad siew and it was also too spicy to eat. Unbelievable. The manager told me to bring it back (this was take out and I live on the south side). So, since I did not get a refund for a dinner I could not eat, here is my review. There were also no people in there on a Saturday....that should have said it all.

EE Sane, the best Thai food I've ever had! The food actually inspired me to grow my own Thai basil but my cooking attempts are no match for the culinary delight at EE Sane's. The service is never good (if you want good service, do the take-out!). If it's good FOOD you're looking for, your search is over. You just have to try it!

I will agree that the service is not the best, but the reason the place was packed was because the food is great and the price is right. It's always busy there, and it is one of the best, if not the best, Thai restaurants in Milwaukee.

I rated the service very poor, dissatisfying poor...we went in, asked to be seated, he said it would take about 20 minutes, so we seated ourselves by the front entrance, helping ourlselves with the table, we had a party of 9 including children and adults. The guys from the back had to come out to help with drinks and menus. After seating there for about 10 minutes, no one came to take our orders. Their were people calling for take out and people coming in ordering and waiting for their orders. 20 minutes past, we decided to get up and walked out, we said we're just gonna leave, the host said ok, that was that and mind his business...that was the last time we're ever going there...

Delicious food. Terrible service. We always order take-out. It's typically ready when they say...though we have to wait until someone can check us out. Love the fact that you can choose your level of spiciness.

I have been eating at this restaurant since 1999 and it is currently 2008 (almost 2009). This is one of the best and most authentic Thai/Lao restaurants. The food has a great mixture of spices and chilis. The ingredients are always fresh tasting. The service does lack a little but what do you expect for the prices that you pay especially during lunch time. I serious would pay double or triple the prices for the food. Oh, I forgot to say that I am Thai so please take my review seriously!

The food tasted fresher than I've had at other places. The service was fast. The restaurant was not the best decorated, but it was clean!!! I am ordering more as I type!!!

The food is amazing and the portions are huge, but the service is aawwffll. Sorry, Shauna, but poor spelling doesn't discount Daniel's review. He's right and almost everyone else agrees with him.

This is the best Thai Food I've found in Milwaukee, and it's reasonably priced. We get take out a lot so we don't have to put up with the service, which is always less then friendly but luckily they have the most delicious curry squash to make us want to come back. And I have seen people get turned away at 8:30, so come early if you want to be seated!

I think this is the best Thai food in the midwest and seeing as Daniel can't even spell the word awful, his review should not even count.

I've been here three times. The food is good but the service is AWEFUL. The last time I went (which is the last time I'll ever go)the host refused to seat us at 840pm because they closed at 9pm. When I told him the hours are listed as "open until 10 online" he essentially said I was lying. There is too much good Thai food in Milwaukee to put with this guy's attitude. Try The King and I or many others.

Best Thai food around. Service is lacking. Typically one server at lunch... he seems to be put out by having to take your order. We thought he didn't like us... but I think it's life he has an issue with. If they had a better location and waitstaff they would be a 5 star restaurant!

Food is very good here now, wasn't a few years ago. They have improved. A few vegetarian dishes on the menu. The curry dish I ordered hot and spicy wasn't too, but still flavorful. I would recommend this place. Don't expect beautiful atmosphere though. Just enjoy the food. (Dec. 2006)

Although the place is not extremely fancy and the service is a bit slow, the food is amazingly delicious. My boyfriend is Thai and can cook quite a feast, he also enjoys eating at EE-Sane. Best Thai food I have ever tasted!!

The most delicious Thai food in Milwaukee, if not the Midwest. Everything on the menu is flavorful and prepared with wonderfully fresh ingredients. My regular favorites include the pad Thai, tom yum gai, chicken satay, the wide variety of curries, spring rolls, volcano shrimp and chicken. One can specify heat for most dishes; the index is 1 to 10. I have found that 5 is as hot as any normal human needs to go; 6 through 10 is for serious chili heads. The ambience of the restaurant is charmingly dingy. The owners of the restaurant have clearly placed their emphasis on the food, which makes this restaurant all the better.
