Intimate atmosphere, family run business, Thai ambiance, broad selection with unique Thai flavorings hailing from the cook's home of Chiang Mai in northern Thailand all served to make this an unexpected travel treat. Thai friendliness and informality come with an amusing cultural contention of Thai mom and American kids. The atmosphere was reminiscent of many of my experiences traveling in northern Thailand, only in English.
We had the appetizer sampler ($9.95), the Yum Chicken (6.95), and Pad Thai Gai (8.95). (Lunch specials are available earlier in the day.) All were uniquely seasoned (not overly spicy) and well prepared and presented. We were surprised with a dessert, a real treat, of Thai custard topped with a cookie and special sauce. Service was relatively rapid, but amuse yourself while waiting by learning some Thai from home-made wall posters (to practice on staff) or reviewing travel brochures of the various Thai regions.
I write this review with some trepidation as this is a very convenient dinner stop for me when I head south after work from my home in NC, and I would hate to see the place become too popular, have to hire additional staff, and lose it's "northern hospitality".
