Grandma's Thai is one of the best Thai restaurants in the Seattle area. I am not sure if they make it special for us or not, because we speak Thai and ask for the real Thai style. Usually Thai restaurants around here serve Americanized Thai food, but Grandma makes the real thing for us. Ask her to do the same for you. The khao pad (fried rice) takes like it was flown in from Bangkok, so does the tom yum. She serves sticky rice with mango too. You can see the kitchen there behind the counter, and it also looks like the kind of setup you find in a nice restaurant in Thailand. Even better news is that the cook, who we spoke with, owns the restaurant and she makes everything herself. Unlike trendy Thai restaurants with hired cooks who don't know what they're doing, Grandmas is just downright perfect. We have been here only twice, so we have a lot more to taste here. The good news is that they are apparently making other customers happy too, the 6 or 8 tables inside have been mostly full both times we ate there. This is a real treasure. Hope it stays.
