Waited for half hours, saw everybody getting seated but they kept telling me and my 2 kids that we were next. We were not able to get a table perhaps we were the wrong complexion or we did not wear the right clothes. Come on people these time are over so stop with the discrimination! Judy A

Interesting decor, nice seating (we love booths!), good service and excellent food, even for the usual good standards of Thai restaurants. Of the appetizers we liked most the Hoi Obb (steamed mussels with basil). The entrees were excellent: the steamed rock fish (enough for four people) and the Deep Sea, a sweet curry seafood combination. Andrea

I have eaten at Tara Thai many times (I used to work in the same shopping center). However, my most recent visit will be my last. I was awakened at 4:30AM the next morning with excruciating stomach pains, hot and cold sweats, shaking, and couldn't leave the bathroom.....you get the idea! I had honey-roasted duck with crispy noodles (something I've eaten many times). I was the only one in my group to have the duck and was the only one to get food poisoning. I was sick the whole weekend and couldn't even use my theater ticket ($75 lost). I went to the restaurant the following day, Saturday, but it wasn't open yet. I was too sick to go back until Monday. I explained to the manager what had happened. He was smirking the whole time I spoke with him and acted as if I was lying! He asked why I hadn't gone to the hospital. I told him I was too sick to leave the bathroom! Not only did he not apologize to me, but he seemed unconcerned about a possible issue with the food. He wouldn't reimburse me for the meal and didn't offer me a gift certificate as a show of good will. Food poisoning can happen from time to time in any restaurant. If he had handled the situation professionally, I would have been willing to give the restaurant another shot, but after the way I was treated, NEVER. I wrote to the owner of the restaurant, and he has yet to reply after two months. I stopped in after one month and left my phone number, but I received no call back. I went back yesterday and spoke with the same manager who again was rude and couldn't say when or if I would get any response from the owner and was unwilling to do anything to follow up on it. He saw nothing wrong with ignoring my letter or request for a phone call. There are too many excellent Thai restaurants in the area to risk this experience.....try Thai Farm (King's Farm area) or Old Siam (Gaithersburg). Kirk

This is not bad as Thai restaurants go. The service is very punctual and friendly, at times, the waiter or waitress is a bit self effacing. They are tolerant of people like me who speak Thai noo noo pla pla. Their tom kha gai seems to use canned chicken chunks. The , while excellent, has an awful lot of carrots and red cabbage on the plate. The pad prik thai dishes do have authentic green peppercorns, the drinks are excellent, and the rice, while not exactly Thai jasmine rice, is good enough. My own favorites are the fish specials, many of which come out in a flaming dish that keeps the fish perfect until served. I also love their noodles, especially the pad Thai. Amyism

My first visit to Tara Thai left me intrigued and proud that an Asian restaurant with style, charm and flavor DOES exist! My palete for Asian food is critical and unforgiving. I tend to judge the service quickly, leaving the flavors of a dish a tough fight to win me over. Walking through Tara Thai's (Arlington) doors I was greeted by friendly hosts and beautiful design. There is a cooling blue aqua theme throughout the restaurant that provides versatile ambiance. Amongst mixed parties and couples, my husband and I sat next to a large family with children enjoying a birthday dinner while the bar entertained a late happy hour crowd. It was refreshing to see so many different clientele in one establishment. When our food came the waitress described the dishes and eagerly awaited our approval. I would recommend the CRISPY FISH and DUCK dish as entrees as both had wonderful texture and aromatic flavor. A variety of chili and peppers were provided for my husband's spicy palete, while I preferred the sweet and sour sauces as is. The pad Thai also proved to be different from your run of the mill Thai restaurant dish. Prices were set modest in return for the dining experience. And after a feast like meal, we didn't feel heavy and lethargic. We've since returned on many different occasions, each time our senses are awakened. Brian

I love this place!!!! Food tastes authentic but look kinda modern rather than traditional but goes well with the decor which is very soothing and relax. The service is fast and professional not like other Thai restaurant that try so hard to be your best friend not your server. Do you really think they only do that to you? Linda
