Mezzo Thai, although the service wasn't quite up to standard when busy, had exceptional food that always made up for your time. The phad thai was unlike anything you find in this area of Washington. It truly feels traditional instead of the Americanized Thai food you find here. I first went when they opened. The decoration and environment was very good, not to mention even the bar was exceptional.(The owner was very good at post meal special coffees)The meal was spot on 10 out of 10, and the desserts where impecable. I was a regular customer at this restaurant from the time it opened untill it closed. When i went back a few months ago, I expected it to be quite the same, considering I'd heard she sold the restaurant to her staff. I was wrong. The decorative and warm atmostphere was gone, and unlike the Mezzo on a Friday night, was dead as a rat in a rat trap. It had been poorly replaced. Even the food wasn't nearly as good.
My 15 year old sons girlfriend was the one who wanted to try Phuket Thai because she thought the name was rude and she found it hilarious. They were both fine with the food, but who am I basing opinions on my son and his girlfriend who tend to choose Pizza Hut over the Atomic anyway. All in all though, I do agree with my son... as they say it in english, seriously Phuket.
