Being back in the USA after several years working overseas and living in Thailand where the average price of a meal is $1.50 has been an eyeopener for me.... especially where a decent meal can cost $12-50.00 for the same food. I just found a great Thai food place called SILKTHAI in of all places... Huntington Beach!!! Its great to be someplace with real Thai people, Thai hospitality, and Wonderfully Authentic Thai Food!!! Its seems most Thai Restaurants in OC seem to make their foor more "westernized... a mix between American, Chinese and Thai... NOT THIS PLACE!!! I also like the fact that the owner, cooks and servers are authentic Thai people who cook authentic Thai food. Because I spend a lot of time in Asia, and especially in Thailand, I have become a bit of a Thai food connoisseur. It is nice to come back home and be able to eat authentic Thai food that tastes like Thailand. They (SILKTHAI) do a Great (Green Papaya Salad), Larb Moo (a Spicy Isaan/NE Thailand Specialty), Great Curries from the South of Thailand. They also do the good old standbys like Khao Pad (Thai style Fried Rice.... YOU GOTTA TRY IT WITH PEET NAM PA (A SPICY/SOUR SAUCE...ASK THE WAITRESS FOR IT...ONLY THAI PEOPLE KNOW ABOUT IT...OR SOMEONE WHO HAS EATEN IN THAILAND. They also do very good Pad Thai noodles, Tom kha Guy (Coconut Chicken soup) which is nice and creamy the way I like it, and for those with a cold or sniffles and want something to clear their head they should try the Tom Yum Koong (Thai Hot, very spicy and sour soup... good for what ails you!!! ;) ...will also burn the hair right off of your chest if you request it extra spicy like I did!! :O (They rate their Spicyness 1-10... 10 being spiciest... I ordered an 8... just to give fair warning. Oh!!! They have sticky rice...which is hard to come by in OC, and even do a great dessert called Sticky Rice with Fresh Mango. It is a warm sweet coconut sticky rice topped with fresh slices of mango. A great finish to a meal. But I am usually too full from the meal portions to finish...so I take the rest of it home. BTW... they do Take Out and have cheap lunches Recently they went from more of a take out restaurant to an upscale restaurant, but the prices are still the same... now you only get a much more comfortable place to sit, relax and enjoy your meal. You need to try it for yourself... YOU WON'T BE DISAPPOINTED!!! :) SILK THAI 19690 Beach Blvd. Huntington Beach 92648 (714) 964-1151 Love Thai Food!

My husband and I both have diet restrictions; he is allergic to seafood and I cannot have any green vegetables or onions. Silk Thai always accommodates us and the food is still delicious. I highly recommend this warm, friendly restaruant.
