Have been to Typhoon several times over the past few years. EVERY time food has been exceptional and the service great. We don't hesitate to bring out-of-town guests there because we are never disappointed by the experience. Menu varies seasonally so new items are added. Best Thai restaurant in the area, and one of the best we've dined at nationally. Lorna Ritchie

The food was OK but not exceptional. I find better in Greensburg at Raw 2. The waiter was arrogant and condescending. I am going to Vietnam in 3 weeks and wanted to practice with chopsticks. I was lectured, however, that "the correct way to eat this dish is to spoon the green curry thus, blah, blah, blah... but if you REALLY want...." Then they brought me these heavy stainless steel chopsticks! A very disappointing experience. (THAICUISINE.COM followup comment for Lorna: we can not comment about the quality of the food at this restaurant however we can assure you that chopsticks are not the standard in Thailand. Thais use fork and spoon most of the time.) Julian & family, Thai food fans

Very nice decor and friendly, prompt service. However, a little too much emphasis on presentation, resulting in "nouvelle cuisine" food poritons. The calamari appetizer was very elegant, but the squid was not fresh. I am a duck fan, and it was very good, though there was more fruit than duck. For two adults, one child (who only had appetizer), one beer (no other beverages ordered), dinner was $75 with tip... Andy

We went there on vacation recently, for the first time. The service was poor, with an hour between starters and entree, no water service without asking, and no-one seeming to care how things were, until the apologetic owner claimed a server was missing, our tickets had gotten behind some others, and this sort of thing just NEVER happens. We did get free desserts, but they were bland (and my sticky rice chocolate sauce was rather burned) and the entrees were only average in quality and quantity for the price (not to mention the wait!). We'll check out another thai place next time we vacation there. Ozzy

Have always wanted to try thid modern looing restaurant in the skids of Shadyside. I was disappointed with the experience. My companion's food was innovative and delicious (and I ended up getting offered some of it because mine was NOT.) The menu is very limited. Entrees seemed very expensive for this type of cuisine resulting in a regretful feeling by the time the check arrived. There is a "uuper-crust" quality to the service and customers by and large that is sort of disarming, at least the night that we dined there - yet we couldn't see the reason. Next time I will try somewhere else.
