Additional information: Phant “Pon” Worakul is from Thailand where he grew up in a family-run food business. Phant came to California in 1987 to pursue an education in engineering. He continued to cook and cater for friends and family while in school and after beginning work as a mechanical engineer. Phant is the founder of Thai Essence, providing Thai cooking workshops and personal chef services in the Bay Area. He is also the author of Classical and Traditional Home-Style Thai Cooking which takes the mystery out of Thai food with simple home-style techniques. Phant is widely recognized as a talented, experienced and approachable teacher with a charming personality. Chef Phant Worakul returns to lead us as we make a Thai menu that is perfect for summer—he’s combined cool salads with grilled and sautéed dishes designed for outdoor cooking. His unique teaching methods and surprisingly simple recipes ensure that every student will be able to duplicate each dish at home, focusing on the particular balance of salty, sweet and sour that makes Thai food so explosive in flavor. We’ll enjoy our complete Thai dinner with wine and beer surrounded by the abundance of flowers at Dragonfly. The class will be held outdoors at Dragonfly Floral Farm, an organic flower farm just west of Healdsburg that specializes in natural wine country arrangements.
